FFA Team Shines at National Convention
Our Salem Hills FFA Team recently returned from their exciting trip to the FFA National Convention, accompanied by their advisor, Jolene Christensen!
The Meat & Technology Career Development Event (CDE) team represented us well, earning a Bronze Team Rating. Individual honors went to:
Brooklynn Smith – Bronze
Trevor Coffman – Silver
Carl Wilson – Silver
Jordan Smith – Bronze
In addition, our incredible FFA Officers attended the national convention, expo, and leadership training. Officers included:
Grant Stevens, Brock James, Kinsley Nielsen, Kambri Muir, Jayla Downard, Berklee Warenski, and Rowan Meagher.
Their trip was packed with memorable experiences! Highlights included visiting Fischer Seed, where they learned how food-grade corn is raised and cleaned for products like cereal and canned hominy. They also enjoyed horse races, toured the Lincoln Tech Center, Fair Oaks Farms, the USS Indianapolis Memorial, and even the Indy 500 Speedway Track and Museum.
What an incredible experience for our FFA students—way to represent Salem Hills with pride!

Congratulations to our performer of the week, Talan Skeem. Talan is in his second year in Choir at Salem Hills. In his calm yet powerful way, he does everything that’s asked of him, lifts those around him, and has become an irreplaceable part of our choir family. Talan has a beautiful singing voice and continues to make steady improvements every day. My name is Paul Erwin. I am the ASL teacher at SHHS. Before coming to Salem Hills, I worked at Target! My favorite food is Chinese food from Panda Express ! My favorite color is orange. My favorite hobbies are sketching and board games. I enjoy walking trails or the occasional hike. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. My favorite kind of music is Soft Rock or Christian Rock (Ben Rector, Switchfoot, Relient K, etc.). My wife and I have been married for over 12 years now. We have four boys and baby girl. We have lived all over Utah Valley from Orem all the way down to Santaquin.

Kaycee has been awesome this year. She has worked so hard for her team and is great at firing everyone up. She is a great leader. We are so proud of her and will miss her next year!

Beyond her remarkable work ethic, Heidi is known for her kindness and unwavering support of her band and color guard teammates, uplifting everyone around her with her positive attitude and genuine care.
